Discover our popular frosted glass ornaments lovingly hand painted by a local artist. Each ornament highlights Door County’s famous sailboats and light houses as well as the symbolic cherries that represent the traditional harvest fruit of Door County.
The first major plantings of cherries in Door County reached maturity just before WWI and hundreds of migrant workers were recruited to the area as cherry pickers during the months of July and August. Cherries continued to be hand-picked until replaced by the cherry shaker, a cherry picking machine, in the early 1960s.
